CHAPPELL, Mrs L & Mr A & WILLIAMS Miss J A, Ch Selmalda The Journey JW, Fawn, a boy I judged as a puppy on my last appointment, my has he blossomed into a lovely male, I can see why he has done so much winning, a strong lad that is ex overall, a head that is in balance with his frame, well made fore and aft with ex depth of brisket, well sprung ribcage, strong loin with powerful hindquarters, moved with a free and ground covering stride, RCC.

Group Judge Kari Jarvinen's critique - Working Group - Once again my pleasure to judge at this traditional, well organised show. Thank you. Loved them both...super job. As the Best of Breed Working dogs ran into the big ring, it was the large powerful males that impressed. Driving across the ring with majesty and dignity and once more making me aware that the best of British dogs could win anywhere in the world. 1. Chappell & Williams Ch. Selmalda The Journey J.W.. The handsome Great Dane of correct proportions. So big and strong yet no trace of coarseness, he is well coupled with great bone, tight feet, super body and condition. He presented to me a marvelous outline and gave smooth fluid movement that earned him the highest award today.

What a wonderful day for Lesley (puppy sitting at home!), Jacqui and I at Richmond. It was all about Ruger! 1st Open Dog, DCC, his 15th, & BOB - judge Glynn Payne. 3rd Eukanuba Champion Stakes - judge Paul Lawless. Then he went and won WORKING GROUP 1 under Kari Jarvinen. Needless to say we are all over the moon and thank everyone for the super comments.

On Monday September 3rd our beautiful Ch. Selmalda ZiZi's Journey J.W. gave birth to 11 puppies, 8 bitches and 3 dogs. Sired by the beautiful Am. Ch. Rojons Legendary Kiss Kiss V Svevo, Fawn, we are extremely grateful to Pam Allee Tozzi and Ray Cataldi (Rojon's) for allowing us this opportunity. Here they all are!

Lesley & I have just arrived home from a wonderful five days in Amsterdam competing at the World Dog Show. A totally unique experience for us as this time we were exhibiting in Black/Harlequin ring with our youngster Retee, Hoppinghams Changes Selmalda who was bred by Anitta Kilpalainen in Finland. Benelux Winner - Judge Ilona Onstenk-Schenk (Nl) Junior 3rd/8 - Graded Excellent Speciality Dog Show with Double CAC - Judge Carsten Birk (Dk) Junior 1st/5 - Graded Excellent, RCAC and Best Junior World Dog Show - Judge Massimo Inzoli (It) Junior 0/18 - Graded Very Good As always it was wonderful to catch up with fellow breeders and friends from around the world and compliments to all the winners over the three shows. Special thanks to Debbie for looking after all at Stankirk whilst we were away X Now to plan Shanghai 2019!

At Boston & DCS we had Roger Cruden judging the breed who had an entry of 31 exhibits. Ch. Selmalda The Journey J.W., co-owned with Jacqui Williams, duly won Open Dog, Best Dog and then Best of Breed overall. In the Working Group there were 16 top class exhibits and after careful consideration appointed judge Christopher Quantrill awarded Ruger the TOP SPOT - Working GROUP 1. Pictured is his Group win photo and here is what Judge Christopher Quantrills critique said - Group 1, the exceptional Great Dane Chappell & Williams Ch. Selmalda The Journey J.W., handled to perfection by Adam Chappell, I saw this dog at just 1 year of age and he has just continued to improve. His elegance of movement and balance was clear to be seen and he did not disappoint in the Best in Show ring on Sunday.
